The host colleges

The 2014-2016 C3 postdoctoral fellows cohort will be hosted at Connecticut College, Middlebury College and Williams College. The following is a short collection of links of interest from each College’s website.

Approved fields of study for C3 Postdocs

The C3 Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. As such, eligibility is limited to the Foundation’s approved fields of specialization:

  2. Area/Cultural/Ethnic/Gender Studies
  3. Art History
  4. Classics
  5. Geography and Population Studies
  6. English
  7. Film, Cinema, and Media Studies (theoretical focus)
  8. Foreign Languages and Literatures
  9. History
  10. Linguistics
  11. Literature
  12. Mathematics
  13. Performance Studies (theoretical focus)
  14. Philosophy & Political Theory
  15. Religion and Theology
  16. Sociology
  17. Theatre (non-performance focus)
  18. Interdisciplinary Studies:  interdisciplinary areas of study MAY BE eligible if they have one or more approved fields at their core

Participating departments and programs

Specific departments and programs at the three host colleges have expressed strong interest in hosting a C3 Fellow. When looking at the following list, please keep in mind that the list is not exhaustive, and that additional departments or programs not listed here could host a C3 Fellow, as long as the Fellow’s field of study is among those approved by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and that the candidate is otherwise eligible, and interested in the objectives of the C3.

Timeline for applicants

  • November 15, 2013: Applications due, submitted through Interfolio
  • December 2013: Relevant departments/programs and a selection committee at each college invite candidates for interviews. (Note: candidates may be invited to multiple interviews)
  • January 2014: Relevant departments/programs conduct the interviews by phone or Skype. Following the interviews, departments/programs and candidates with more than one interview rank their preferences
  • January 31, 2014: Participating departments/programs submit hire requests to their College’s selection committee
  • February 2014: Selection Committees at each college determine offers to be made
  • Mid-February 2014: Candidates receive offer and respond within two weeks of offer
  • Late March 2014: All C3 Postdoctoral Fellows attend LADO summit
  • September 2014: C3 Postdoctoral Fellows begin at host Colleges.
