Defining Diversity at C3

Within the context of C3, diversity refers to the relative balance of underrepresented groups in higher education. We define “underrepresented” as individuals who are either historically underrepresented (e.g. African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians, or other Pacific Islanders), are first-generation college students, or have followed nontraditional pathways to college, demonstrating exceptional talent and motivation in the face of adversity, including societal, economic, or academic disadvantages.
