Approximately 45 minutes north of Portland, Maine, Bates is located in Lewiston, just across the river from Auburn, Maine. The area is sometimes known to locals as L/A and, in many ways, can be experienced as a single city. Because of that, you should feel free to stay at hotels in Auburn, Maine, as well.
Depending upon your C3 role, Summit travel, food, and lodging expenses may be reimbursable. (Alcohol is not a reimbursable expense.) Receipts are required for all items to be reimbursed. Please contact your Chief Diversity Officer prior to travel for further instructions and forms.

(This hotel is nearest the Starbucks, Panera, and shopping centers. Though it is not within walking distance to downtown, it is an easy 2-minute drive to campus. Please be advised that walking from this hotel to campus is not suggested because the road from the hotel to campus does not feature a dedicated walking lane or sidewalk.)

Bates is located in central Maine, 35 miles from Portland, 140 miles from Boston and 340 miles from New York City. Major airlines serve the Portland International Jetport (airport code: PWM). Amtrak trains link Portland and Boston. Bus service to Lewiston is provided by Greyhound Bus Lines.
