Planning and Packing

Welcome to the 2018 C3 Summit at Middlebury College!

As you prepare for this event, please review the below items for information on what to pack, when to arrive, and how to get to campus.

Program: Our conference program is complete and available for review here.

Address: We will be holding our opening reception on Friday, November 9 in Atwater Dining Hall. A campus map is available here.

Registration: You may pick up your name badge and registration swag in Atwater Dining Hall at the below times:

  • 5-6:45pm on Friday, November 9
  • 8-8:45am on Saturday, November 10

Airport transportation: We will not be running shuttles to the Burlington, VT airport (BTV), so please arrange transportation in advance. (There is no Uber or Lyft in Middlebury.) If you are departing out of BTV and are unsure of what time you should leave Middlebury, feel free to ask any one of the conference organizers.

Shuttles: Shuttles will run to and from campus and the following hotels: Courtyard Marriott, Inn on the Green, Middlebury Inn, and Swift House. On the afternoon of Friday, November 9, shuttles will make hotel stops at 4:15, 4:30, and 4:45pm in anticipation of the 5pm reception in Atwater Dining Hall.

Parking: During the course of the Summit, you may park on campus without a parking permit. However, you must park in visitor parking. See the Visitor Parking Map for the four designated visitor parking areas. However, feel free to park in any visitor spot you find! E Lot, in the bottom right corner of the map, is closest to where we will be gathering for the Summit.

Wifi: To ensure wireless network connectivity, please follow one of two below steps BEFORE YOUR ARRIVAL. 1) Confirm your ability to use eduroam OR 2) obtain a medium-term guest account. It is recommended that you do one of the two in advance, as MiddleburyGuest, the simple wireless network available to short-term guests, has traffic restrictions and does not always operate smoothly.

Keynote speakers: Chastity Lord (Color Of Change) and Eve Ewing (University of Chicago) will be our keynote speakers; their bios are available here. Dr. Eve Ewing was also recently featured in the New York Times.

What to pack: It will be cold in Middlebury during the weekend of the Summit (high of 44°F, low of 33°F), so please pack clothing and footwear that will keep you warm and dry. I recommend against packing jeans, unless you plan on layering tights or long johns underneath. Finally, please bring reusable water bottles.
