The C3/LADO visits are returning to UC Berkeley and Columbia University!
Visits will take place at UC Berkeley on September 21 and 22, 2015. At Columbia University, the visit dates are September 28 and 29, 2015. Check back soon for more details.
The C3/LADO visits are designed to cultivate interest in liberal arts colleges and to introduce liberal arts college teaching and scholarship (including C3 postdoctoral fellowships) to underrepresented graduate students.

C3 2015 Undergraduate Fellows Arrive on Campus this Week!

C3’s second cohort of undergraduate fellows, selected from a competitive applicant group from LADO schools, begins its summer adventure this week at Columbia University and UC Berkeley.

The cohort is made up of 11 talented students from five different colleges. This year’s undergraduate fellows include:

At UC-Berkeley: Maya Doig-Acuña, Middlebury College; Alyssa Flores, Smith College; Amira Lundy-Harris, Amherst College; and Victoria Yan, Smith College

At Columbia University: Jeremy Glover, Bates College; Ahmad Greene-Hayes, Williams College; Brittanie Lewis, Amherst College; Syeda Malliha, Amherst College; Cheswayo Mphanza, Middlebury College; Andrea Penman-Lomeli, Middlebury College; and Madelene Santizo, Bates College

During the eight-week program, each undergraduate fellow will provide research assistance to a faculty member, while simultaneously developing his or her own research under the guidance of that mentor and a graduate student mentor.

Fellows will also participate in weekly seminars, workshops, and group events, get insider knowledge and preparation for the graduate school application process, and take a GRE preparation class.

C3 Announces Postdoctoral Fellows for 2015-2017

As our first cohort of nine postdoctoral fellows from Columbia University and UC Berkeley finishes its first year on campus, C3 is pleased to announce nine additional fellows from those institutions for the second cohort, who will begin in the fall of 2015.

Connecticut College, Middlebury College and Williams College each will host three fellows for the two-year period from fall 2015 through spring 2017. The new fellows will join those from the first cohort who are already active in their campus communities.

The 2015-2017 postdoctoral fellows include:

Connecticut College: Lindsay Crawford, Philosophy; Sookyoung Lee, English; Ryan Phillips, Government & International Relations

Middlebury College: Alexsia Chan, Political Science; Abhijeet Paul, Comparative Literature; Trinh Tran, Sociology

Williams College: Jamie Parra, English & Comparative Literature; Adam Romero, Environmental Studies; Anicia Timberlake, Music

During their fellowships, the postdoctoral fellows will gain experience teaching and researching in a liberal arts college environment, supported by senior faculty mentors and others in their cohort. They will also engage with underrepresented undergraduate students on the topics of considering and preparing for graduate education.
